truck yeah!

here is a reallllly great kickstarter project that my friends back in new york are working on. i designed a poster, pattern and logo for them. i think it’s going to be an amazing event, everyone involved is so talented. go check it out and help out if you can!

a little sneak peak at the poster i made for them!

holy moly.

so i’ve spent the better part of the day tweaking with my blog. sorry if you came to it while it was in one of its many stages of disrepair. but i think it is pretty much settled for now. there are a few new things! to the right you will see a link to my tumblr and my twitter ( i just started the twitter and i’m a little afraid of it). and then other things like a button that makes it easier to subscribe if you feel so inclined.

so.

there’s that.

weekend after a disappearance.

ahh so i’ve been neglectful of the blog this past week. i’m wrapping up a larger project which is a time suck.

then fred came home from a week in france and naturally i did no work over the weekend.

so we took potemkin on a long walk.

which she very much enjoyed.

i met the doppelganger of billy the kid (my sweet cat back in the states.)

i relaxed while fred spazzed about the meat at cafe de klos.

and we visited our favorite bartender at cafe genootschap der geneugten. he had the old fashioned and i had the aviation.

weekends.

it’s been a  three day weekend here in the netherlands. here are some things that we did:

dog park- little battleship potemkin went to her first off leash dog park. she did so great! i half expected to her run away and not let us catch her. but she was a little lady. she also decided that she likes climbing trees. she climbed way up above my head and gave me a small heart attack. are dogs supposed to climb trees? but she was able to get back down. and then back up. and then down again..

we later lounged after a long day of running.

rare sunshine moments- it’s been really rainy and gloomy here. ugh! so any chance we get at sunshine; we are outside. sitting around staring at each other.

draw bridge- i just thought this was neat. inception-esque???

stop motion- and the most exciting of all! we started on a new stop motion project. it should be done tonight (fingers crossed). it’s going to be a little different than what we usually do. and the theme is my new favorite drink: the ramos gin fizz. here are a few screen shots and behind the scene shots.

summer uniforms.

summer is incoming. time to get the uniform together. i am the type of girl who wears the same things over and over again. even though i have too many articles of clothing and shoes and this and that, i probably rotate the same 5 things for weeks on end. and here is what i have decided.

it will be the year of sunglasses chains. orange lips. a giant headscarf to cover my crazy growning out hair. and maybe a collar. (on a side note does anyone else get really annoyed if a button up shirt is not buttoned up all the way to the top? super pet peeve of mine)

add some black boots with patterned socks. then some shorts. and there you have it!

my uniform fit for summer in amsterdam!

though. it is also nice to have:

a cute second in command.

seedlings to experiment with.

and an inconspicuous spy camera. (yes that is a tiny camera in the shape of a cat!)

trouble lights and sense memory.

of all the strange things to miss, today i really miss my trouble light. my grandfather gave it to me and i just think it’s the greatest. i have always had a fondness for non lamp shaded lamps. but this was like it was made just for me. simply perfection.

i also came across this blurry picture of psychokiller. i miss him terribly. looking at this picture i can feel his fur as if i’m petting him. a very serious sense memory.

little things.

window garden

my parents gave us a apartment warming gift of little baby succulents. cacti being one of the few plants i don’t kill, i’m very excited. this now brings the window garden to 5 succulents, strawberry seedlings, an avocado seed and mint. but the mint is half dead. all gaurded by the garden keeper moonman.

metal heart

i got a letter from melissa with this little metal heart she made inside of it. i sewed it to the psycho killer angel puppets wing for safe keeping.

a western bar

my parents also brought some bar paraphernalia that i either left in america or can’t get here. most notably multiple bourbons.  having a well stocked bar is a very important thing.we made some mint juleps with the aforementioned dying mint. and of course. old fashioneds!!

go games

fred bought the game ‘go’. which we attempted to figure out how to play on our own since it did not come with directions. i’m sure we’ll get it one day.

haberdashery uniforms

in love with this hat. and striped shirts. here is my spring uniform.

hair. don’t cut your hair.

it all started with bleaching my hair white white blonde and having a lot of fun. then self dying over it to get back to my natural red hair turned it pink. pink!!!! i don’t have a picture of this because it was embarrassing and awful. so before the dye job even really dried i drank a few glasses of wine and gave myself a buzz cut with scissors. and spent a year or so re-buzzing it and looking like a little boy.

now since its been about 8 years since i’ve had long hair, i’m going through the painful process of growing it out. i don’t know if you’ve ever grown out a weird hack-job buzz cut, but every 2 weeks is another awkward stage. and right now i look like a messy 1960s nondescript band member and hair is always in my face and it just won’t cooperate. i’m dreaming of a few months from now when i will have something resembling a bob and be happy again.

(please excuse the vain nature of this post. i’m at my wits end with my hair right now. it’s all i can do not to shave it all off again.)
